Cisco Bug: CSCvi91882 - Git1212: DNAC::logrotate does not rotate syslog file - GUI may become unresponsive

Last Modified

Sep 16, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller Enterprise Module (APIC-EM)

Known Affected Releases

DNAC1.1.4

Description (partial)

Symptom:
/var/ partition filling up with syslog file. If the /var partitions reaches capacity, this will impact core services on the DNAC server typically leading to the inability to access the GUI.

Conditions:
This issue is present in 1.1.4. syslog messages are incorrectly stored in /var/log/syslog.1 and are not rotated from the system.

Normal levels of syslog messages should be at a low enough rate that the impact to the system may not be noticed for some time. However, it has been seen in some systems a high level of syslog activity pointing to prior exited containers on the system.
