Description (partial)

Symptom:
Syslogs are seen, with the format:

RP/0/RP0/CPU0:Mar 27 11:57:05.671 : kim[340]: %INFRA-KIM-3-GET_HW_IF_KEY_FAIL : Failed to obtain hardware interface key for interface (ifh 0x20007b8) after 10 attempts.

Specific values of timestamp, kim process jid and interface handle will vary.

Additionally, the KIM process will be blocked from taking actions until processing is complete.

Conditions:
This is seen on IOS-XR versions 6.3.2 and 6.4.1 on NCS 5500 and NCS 5000 series routers. It is triggered when VLANs are configured and mirrored into Linux by Netstack.
