Cisco Bug: CSCvi86865 - H-570: u4route-mem max 768, u6route-mem max 512 - pim crash on N9k (regression from GPLUS)
Jun 12, 2018
- Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Switches
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: Process crashes when shared memory for u4route-mem set larger than 512MB. Conditions: As of release 7.0(3)I7, the maximum allowable shared memory size for u4route-mem has been reduced from 1024MB to 768MB. However, if u4route-mem is set above 512MB, processes that attach to urib shared memory may crash due to heap memory corruption. The pim process has been identified as one such process. Check the shared memory limit by running: > sh run | in route-m limit-resource u4route-mem minimum 768 maximum 768 limit-resource u6route-mem minimum 512 maximum 512 limit-resource m4route-mem minimum 58 maximum 58 limit-resource m6route-mem minimum 8 maximum 8 While it is permitted to configure u4route-mem up to 768MB, the combined total of u4route-mem, u6route-mem, m4route-mem, and m6route-mem cannot exceed 1.1GB. A total above this limit will likely result in some process(es) crashing due to heap memory corruption.
