Cisco Bug: CSCvi72480 - Memory leak seen when having same src mac -address with different src ip address

Last Modified

Aug 15, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers

Known Affected Releases

16.10.1

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Memory leak is seen under processes *MallocLite* or "IOSD ipc task" on EPAs. This can eventually causes the EPA to crash and generate a SIP_0_mcpcc-lc-ms core file.

Conditions:
MAC address accounting in ingress direction is configured on EPA-10X10GE or EPA-18X1GE

For example:
interface TenGigabitEthernet0/0/0
ip accounting mac-address input

"ip accounting mac-address output" does not cause this issue.

Another known trigger is when the sender HW Address count is not same as the Sender Protocol Address count. In other words, the number of source mac addresses is not same as the number of source IP addresses which cause duplicate mac assignment.
