Cisco Bug: CSCvi68927 - ASDM Upgrade wizard Erroring out on upgrade attempt

Last Modified

May 04, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager

Known Affected Releases

7.9(1.151)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
The message "Installation failed with the following error: Error uploading ASA 9.9.1 Any changes made during installation will now be undone." when attempting to use the upgrade wizard and using the check for ASA/ASDM updates from cisco.com option over ASDM.

Even with the error the image file is downloaded to flash, tools > file manager would show the new image file as Boot image 1 and the old one as Boot image 2 but the show run boot from CLI would not show any changes.

This happens every time if using the wizard (deleted the file from flash and tried again to same behavior).

Checked tools > file manager and it showed the image file downloaded and selected as boot image 1 while the old one as boot image 2.

Checked show flash and the image showed there.

Checked show run boot and verified the old image is boot image 1 and no boot image 2.

Ran an md5 verify and verified the hash was the same.

Conditions:
ASA running ASDM version 7.9.1.151
