Cisco Bug: CSCvi52798 - ISSU COMPAT CHECK enablement for RSP3 and RSP2

Last Modified

May 27, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASR 900 Series Aggregation Services Routers

Known Affected Releases

16.9.1

Description (partial)

Symptom:
This is an enhancement which makes sure that if active and standby cards are loaded with incompatible images (i.e one with polaris and another with non-polaris image), the standby card goes down gracefully without impacting active card's operation.

Booting cards with incompatible images (polaris and non-polaris images) is not supported, however, it is quite possible that there is a setup where one of the card is already up and running, and a new card is inserted in the standby slot, the image on the standby may not be known (may have been updated by the manufacturing/customer) and this can result in a scenario of active and standby have incompatible images.

Conditions:
1) HA setup

2)
Active and Standby booting up with incompatible images i.e

Active booting up with Polaris image and standby booting up with XE image.
or
Active booting up with XE image and standby booting up with polaris image
