Cisco Bug: CSCvi15897 - Silent Reload on Cat3850/3650 running Everest 16.6.2

Last Modified

Aug 15, 2019

Products (1)

  • Cisco Catalyst 3850 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

16.6.2

Description (partial)

Symptom:
It has been found that under some conditions, a Cat3850 stack running Everest 16.6.2 will reload silently, the whole stack.
Running Everrest 16.6.2, a C9300 switch could also encounter this issue on standby switch. Although It may not cause a stack merge, the standby switch may reboot due to HA EHSA timeout.

Conditions:
This has been seen on models WS-C3850-12X48U although it can be seen in others.
They must run Everest 16.6.2.
They must not have generated any crash file or system report (which is different than no reports due to lack of space in the crash file directory).
Also, the reason would say "Power" although power has been confirmed to not be the cause.
