Cisco Bug: CSCvh97466 - Only send Ping Check if it is enabled under AAA authentication

Last Modified

Aug 13, 2019

Products (1)

  • Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC)

Known Affected Releases

2.3(1f)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Regardless of the "Ping Check" option the ACI nodes will periodically check reachability to AAA providers with ICMP packets. This can cause an unnecessary amount of logging to occur especially when a customer has an environment with a lot of nodes.

Conditions:
This was seen in a customer's environment where they were seeing a numerous amount of ICMP entries being logged on their ASA. It seems to log every ACI device pinging the TACACS servers. (A snippet of customer's logs output is attached for one second).
