Cisco Bug: CSCvh93215 - fib_mgr incorrectly reports low-memory alarm

Last Modified

Sep 16, 2019

Products (1)

  • Cisco Network Convergence System 5500 Series

Known Affected Releases

6.3.1.BASE

Description (partial)

Symptom:
FIB manager syslogs will be indicating a low memory condition / resources:

fib_mgr[287]: %ROUTING-FIB-4-RSRC_LOW : FIB running low on Shared Memory resource memory. FIB will now begin resource constrained forwarding. Only route deletes will be handled in this state, which may result in mismatch between RIB/FIB. Traffic loss on certain prefixes can be expected. FIB will automatically resume normal operation, once the resource utilization returns to normal level.

Conditions:
- Copy of files (even internally)
(for example a constant process crash in the system will generate core files which will then by copied by the system to the harddisk. This transfers also count for this issue)
