Cisco Bug: CSCvh67082 - OCU bridge SMU between ConfD single-slave and multi-slave versions

Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco Carrier Routing System

Known Affected Releases

6.3.1.BASE

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Beginning in 6.3.1, ConfD runs in multi-slave mode which substantially increases the reliability of the sysadmin config. In order for this change to work properly when performing OCU between single-slave and multi-slave versions, a bridge SMU is needed.

Conditions:
This SMU is only needed when OCU upgrade or OCU downgrade is being performed. It is not needed for normal operation on any version.

For OCU upgrade from a single-slave version to a multi-slave version, the SMU should be applied prior to starting OCU. Once OCU has been completed successfully, the SMU may be removed.

For OCU downgrade from a multi-slave version to a single-slave version, the SMU should be applied as part of the OCU operation itself (in the v2 version). Once OCU is finished successfully, the SMU may be removed.

This is a process restart SMU. On activation/removal, the confd_helper process will restart, logging users out of sysadmin northbound interfaces, including CLI and NETCONF sessions. No other impact or service disruptions will be seen.
