Cisco Bug: CSCuw54756 - MediaSense: Misleading Error Message when Name Resolution Fails

Last Modified

Jun 08, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco MediaSense

Known Affected Releases

11.0(1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When attempting to add the FQDN of a soon to be installed MediaSense node to the cluster configuration, a DNS lookup is done to check that the
FQDN is valid. If this fails, the error message states:

"The MediaSense host that is being added is not accessible to the MediaSense Cluster. See the Mediasense troubleshooting tips for more information".

This is misleading in that the MediaSense host is not accessible at this time. The error message should state the name resolution is failing, and instruct the user to update DNS with the forthcoming server info.

Conditions:
Adding MediaSense nodes (Secondary or Expansion) to a cluster.
