Last Modified

Feb 26, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco Catalyst 4000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

15.6(1.11)S

Description (partial)

Symptom:
DHCP discover packets not being forwarded upstream in a Guest Foreign/Anchor setup with a 4500 as MA with interim 5760 MC to a 5508 Anchor controller when 4500 switch and uplink is on L3 routed port

Conditions:
Topology:
[AP]--[4500 MA(Foreign)]--[5760 MC]--[5508 MC(Anchor)]

4500: 3.7.0
5760: 3.6.2
5508: 7.6.130.31

We see the 4500 is not forwarding the client DHCP discover on the mobility tunnel. We have identified the trigger to be the 4500 uplink port to be layer 3 routed. When the uplink port is made l2 switchport, all works fine.
