Cisco Bug: CSCut61585 - RSVP TE mid-point w FEC being tested identifies itself as FEC Tail-end

Last Modified

Jul 20, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco Carrier Routing System

Known Affected Releases

5.3.1.MPLS

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Error code "'x' - return code 0" received for an mpls ping.

Conditions:
The issue occurs when all of the following conditions are met:
1. User is pinging an LDP prefix
2. LDP is using multi-hop TE tunnel as a transport
3. TE midpoint is also the eventual LDP target.
The above combination is very rare and only happens when the routing metric is very inefficient, causing LDP to use a multi-hop TE tunnel instead of the directly connected link to destination.
