Cisco Bug: CSCut61032 - Jabber iOS 10.6 rejects IM&P Certificate randomly

Last Modified

Jan 22, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco Jabber for iPhone

Known Affected Releases

10.6

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Jabber for iOS (iPhone and iPad) randomly says "An invalid certificate was declined. Please contact your administrator. Send problem report."

It does not give any option to manually Accept the certificate either. It happens randomly over WiFi or when Jabber is moved from VCS to internal WiFi.

This happens because, during Certificate exchange on SSL handshake with IM&P Server, Jabber sends a "Client Hello" with non-zero session ID. IM&P Server sends its own session ID in "Server Hello". Then Client rejects the certificate with "Level: Fatal, Description: Protocol Version".

It can be seen if a packet capture is taken by using Windows ICS for the traffic between iPhone and IM&P

Conditions:
Unkonwn
