Cisco Bug: CSCut58177 - Nif ports in STG block state with STP mode change from MST to RPVST mode

Last Modified

Apr 25, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

7.0(3)I1(1.158)

Description (partial)

This is a rare trigger which is highly unlikely to be executed by customers. Making this change at this moment could be risky. The fix would need extensive testing and regression runs for ruling out collateral and regression issues. Therefore, recommend deferring it to the next release.

Symptom:
When STP mode is changed from multiple spanning tree (MST) to rapid per vlan spanning tree (PVRST), fex fabric port-channel members (connecting the fex to the switch) remain in STP "blocked" state. This can lead to traffic loss

Conditions:
Change STP mode from multiple spanning tree (MST) to per-vlan rapid spanning tree (PVRST)
