Products (1)

  • Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer Switches

Known Affected Releases

5.2(8d) 5.2(8e) 6.2(9a)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
During an NX-OS software upgrade, or system switchover on MDS 9000 switch, it is possible in very rare circumstances that the system experiences a complete reload.

The following outputs are a signature of this issue:

`show cores`

`show system reset-reason`
----- reset reason for module 7 (from Supervisor in slot 7) ---

Reason: Reset triggered due to HA policy of Reset
    Service: flogi hap reset
    Version: 6.2(9a)

Conditions:
This issue can happen during an in-service software upgrade (ISSU) to a release in which software defect CSCub40020 has been fixed (5.2(8e)+ or 6.2(9)+), if there have been a large number of edge device logouts, creating a gap of 129 or more between the subsequent indices of the flogi sessions on a per-port vsan. These indices can be checked using the command show flogi internal info flogi-table vsan <vsan_id>.

Furthermore, this issue can happen in any NX-OS release during a system switchover or flogi process restart, if the 129+ gap in flogi-indices exists.
