Cisco Bug: CSCut09843 - mme_hss_request_timeout_handler as SNX timer instead of sn_event_timer

Last Modified

Mar 27, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASR 5000 Series

Known Affected Releases

14.0(1) 15.0(1) 16.0(1) 17.0.0 18.0.0.private 18.1.0

Description (partial)

There are periodic leap second events which can add or delete a second to global time.

When the leap second update occurs all MME application's Authentication-Information-Request (AIR) and Update-Location-Request (ULR) messages would timeout at the same time resulting in retrying immediately to alternate server or terminating the session (depending on the configuration). This could result in spike in message going towards HSS.

The leap second update will be propagated via Network Time Protocol (NTP) or via manually setting the clock.
