Known Affected Releases

15.0(2)SE6

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When adding a third switch running 12.2(53)SE2 to a stack running 15.0(2)SE6 will cause the new switch to elect as switch 2 and go into a bootloop. New switch never joins stack. Issue is not seen with 12.2(55)SE or above.

Conditions:
Stack running 15.0(2)SE [Switch1, Switch2]
Replacement or new switch running 12.2(53)SE2 configured as default priority and switch 1 [Physically Switch 3]

When 3rd switch is added to the stack the expectation is that it renumbers to Switch 3 and joins the stack then auto-upgrades to required image.

This doesn't occur and switch 3 elects as switch 2 and never joins the stack. It goes into a boot loop, and or, stays up as master independently.
