Description (partial)

Symptom:
A Nexus switch with an M/F2 model of linecard may be reset due to an EOBC timeout. The EOBC is the Ethernet Out of Band Channel, which is used by the switch's supervisor engine to periodically send keepalive packets to all linecards. In some scenarios, keepalives can be missed, triggering the card to reload.

To confirm that an EOBC timeout has occurred, check the module's internal activity logs. Example:

show module internal activity module [slot number]

Near the time when the linecard reloaded, you may see events in the model's internal activity logs such as follows:

Warning on ports: 1-0 due to EOBC heartbeat failure in device 10
