Cisco Bug: CSCus68365 - Miscellaneous usage calculation takes tracking data

Last Modified

Aug 22, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco Email Security Appliance

Known Affected Releases

9.0.0-490 9.1.0-032 9.6.0-042 9.7.1-066

Description (partial)

Symptom:
The ESA is (inaccurately) reporting that 75% of the Miscellaneous disk quota is being used (or that it is full).

Data from Email Tracking will be counted a second time as a part of the Miscellaneous Files - System Files Usage.

Documentation states that System Files Usage cannot be deleted.

This can be checked by issuing the CLI command diskquotaconfig (or from the GUI: System Administration > Disk Management)

Example:
Email Tracking is using 511 GB
Miscellaneous Files - System Files is using 514 GB

514GB of System Files is inaccurately reported due to 511 GB of that coming from the Centralized Email Tracking.

In this example, System Files should only be using around 3 GB.

Conditions:
ESA running 9.x with Email Tracking data stored on it

Typically, the values are reported correctly on the next re-calculation cycle on the quota usage within a couple hours. How long runs recalculation and whether to run it manually? I increased the quota of more than 10 hours, but the size continues to increase and has reached 70GB .
