Description (partial)

During this issue, the following IFCC (Interface Control Check) errors may be seen on the host (i.e. Mainframe)
for the CUP devices:

N 4040000 SYSA 15010 01:48:19.21 00000090 IOS050I CHANNEL DETECTED ERROR ON 0FF1,AA,31,**02,PCHID=0520
N 4040000 SYSB 15010 01:48:19.31 00000090 IOS050I CHANNEL DETECTED ERROR ON 0FFF2,BB,31,**02,PCHID=01D0
N 4040000 SYSC 15010 04:14:15.13 00000090 IOS050I CHANNEL DETECTED ERROR ON 0FF3,CC,31,**02,PCHID=0500

These errors will directly map to Protocol TimeOut events for command 0x32 seen in
'show ficon control-device internal event-history errors' log:

(Please Note: the event below is an example of what will be seen and does not relate to the event time/date
in the above host side error)

1) Event:E_DEBUG, length:101, at 932484 usecs after Tue Feb 17 18:29:35 2015
    [103] sb3_s_dev_ptov: ptov: vsan:69 ch:0x300b00 chi:34 cu:0x30fe00 cui:0 ccw:0x400 token:0x3 cmd:0x32

This problem can occur when there are two or more FICON VSANs, each with the CUP device online to the same sysplex (same time), and one VSAN must have a multi-member FC port-channel defined and operational.
