Cisco Bug: CSCus37394 - Edge 300 does not support TLS 1.1 or 1.2, only TLS 1.0

Last Modified

Jun 28, 2016

Products (1)

  • Cisco Edge 300 Series Digital Media Player

Known Affected Releases

1.6

Description (partial)

Symptom:
The Edge 300 cannot connect to some websites, while other websites work.

Conditions:
The remote websites require the use of TLS 1.1 or 1.2.

To verify this we can use on a OSX or Unix workstation:

curl --tlsv1.0 --verbose https://<site>

if you get a message like:

SSL peer handshake failed, the server most likely requires a client certificate to connect

then the server does not accept the TLS 1.0 connection. Test if :

curl --tlsv1.2 --verbose https://<site>

does work.
