Cisco Bug: CSCus22014 - Console hung while generating crypto key
Jan 29, 2017
- Cisco Catalyst 6000 Series Switches
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: This issue could be seen randomly wherein while generating RSA keys, console going into hung state. This is an aftereffect of the fact that in the systems where it is seen, there would not be any hardware random number generation and entropy collected is NULL. Conditions: If this issue is hit, it would be known during bootup during which the random number is collected using hardware source. In some cases, the hardware source was failing to register during bootup and hence the system was left behind with NULL entropy. Entropy or Random number is further used by RSA for its own key generation process. The system leads to unusable state when this entropy is found to be NULL and console goes to hung state.
