Cisco Bug: CSCus12021 - Speed of FCIP link is showing as 5 gbps for 1 Gig link

Last Modified

May 29, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer Switches

Known Affected Releases

6.2(13)FM(0.9) 7.1(1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Speed of FCIP link is show same for 1 gig link & 10 gig link.

Please be aware of a specific corner case, where a switch running pre-6.2(13) code is being upgraded to 6.2(13) or later codes, and it has port-channels with members (FCIP links) links spread across multiple 18+4 (DS-X9304-18K9) modules (different slots).

Under such circumstances the system may potentially experience an outage: in 6.2(13) and later codes the bandwidth considered by the port-channel is no longer the bandwidth of the physical port associated with a given FCIP link, but the max-bandwidth configured for that same FCIP link. As a result, the member links with updated bandwidth cannot re-join the port-channel due to a bandwidth mismatch, and those member links will move to a suspended state.

Conditions:
Regarding the known corner case, a switch running pre-6.2(13) code is being upgraded to 6.2(13) or later codes, and it has port-channels with members (FCIP links) links spread across multiple 18+4 (DS-X9304-18K9) modules (different slots).
