Cisco Bug: CSCur72260 - SGSNGtpuPathFailure Trap Stuck

Last Modified

Feb 09, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASR 5000 Series

Known Affected Releases

14.0(48)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
SGSNGtpuPathFailure and SGSNGtpuPathFailureClear messages are seen constantly.

Conditions:
=>attach- activate(DT)- activate(non-DT)
=>IUPS path failure
=>IU release
=> service Req
=> path management

When a path failure is detected, all non-DT sessions are removed. When it is followed by an IU release, DT sessions get deleted. As there was a path failure detected previously, the corresponding GTPU path is not removed but the remote address to IUPS service mapping is deleted. For the service request that follows, a new session gets added. As the path is not removed previously, the same path is reused - without the remote node - to IUPS service mapping. Hence, when the Echo request is received from the remote node, it fails to find the required mapping and drops the Echo request, which leads to path failure detection.
