Cisco Bug: CSCur50790 - CLI returning extra CRs (\r) with command execution

Last Modified

Mar 20, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

5.2(1)N1(4) 6.0(2)N1(2)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
CLI returning extra CRs (\r) with command execution. Causing issues with expect scripts.

Conditions:
With a packet capture of a telnet session, after hitting 'enter' at the CLI prompt, \r\n will be sent in the telnet data to the Nexus switch. In return, received are the following telnet data lines from the switch, \r and \r\n data lines in one packet, then \r and {prompt} as telnet data lines with another sent packet.
If the same is done for an IOS device, it always results \r\n being sent to it, and will receive one packet in return with \r\n and another with the prompt.
