Description (partial)

The VCS 8.x-documentation is ambiguous in terms of whether a major upgrade to 8.x requires the existing certificates to become regenerated.

On page 6 of the VCS X8.1.1 release-notes, the following is mentioned:

"If you upgrade to this release from an earlier installation of VCS software, your existing server and trusted CA certificates will not be affected."

This sounds as if the existing certificates remain valid and don't need to be regenerated. However, on page 16 the following is mentioned:

"After upgrading to X8.1.1 we strongly recommend that you generate and install new server certificates on
your VCS systems."

This again is a recommendation to replace the existing certificafte, but not really giving any reason for that.

Other release-notes (e.g. X8.2.2) are missing the second statement completely.

Upgrade from 7.x to 8.x
