Cisco Bug: CSCur46680 - CSM: IPS Device Manager Cross-launch Fails "Error connecting to sensor"

Last Modified

Jan 18, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco Security Manager

Known Affected Releases

4.6(0)SP1 4.7(0)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When right-clicking on an IPS sensor device in the CSM Configuration Manager client application's Device View and choosing "Device Manager...", IDM cross-launches and initially appears, but an error is subsequently encountered. Example:

"Error connecting to sensor. Failed to create sensor - 192.0.2.10:443. Exiting IDM."

In the above example, 192.0.2.10 is the IP address assigned to the IPS sensor device in-question's Management (C&C) interface.

Conditions:
Using an affected version of the CSM (Cisco Security Manager) client application attempting to launch a managed IPS sensor device's "Device Manager..." feature.

Initial testing suggests that this only occurs when:
*The IPS sensor device(s) is NOT an IPS-4500-series model.
*The IPS sensor device(s) IS running IPS software version 7.3.
