Symptom:
Presently Jabber for windows does not support having characters in the phone number field.
As per the current design Jabber code will convert raw string to mnemonic form.

Conditions:
Configuring non mnemonic characters in the phone number field in AD.
Adding the user in your Jabber contact list. 
Example : 1500user will be converted into 15008737
