Cisco Bug: CSCur33463 - Module flap observed during VSM ISSU form CX_PatchA to Dao.1

Last Modified

Sep 18, 2019

Products (1)

  • Cisco Nexus 1000V Switch for VMware vSphere

Known Affected Releases

5.2(1)AJ(1.0.688) 5.2(1)SV3(1.0.328) 5.2(1)SV3(1.1.46) 5.2(1)SV3(1.1.58)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
The maximum port setting is 1024 for the following Cisco Nexus 1000V releases:

- Release 5.2(1)SV3(1.2)
- Release 5.2(1)SV3(1.1)

During an upgrade to either of the preceding releases, the VMS notifies the VC of the 1024 maximum port set setting. The VC tries to set the MAX port on the VEM. If the VEM is running 5.1 U1, the operation fails. This DVS operation failure can result in module flaps.

Conditions:
This problem occurs when your setup uses a 5.1 U1 ESX host and you upgrade the VSM to Cisco Nexus 1000V Release 5.2(1)SV3(1.2) or 5.2(1)SV3(1.1).
