Cisco Bug: CSCur29855 - ISR4451 Removing Some HSRP Configs Doesn't Clear MAC Filters

Last Modified

Known Affected Releases

15.5(2)S

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Even after removal of certain HSRP configurations, new MAC filters cannot be added.

Conditions:
Removing most HSRP Group configurations clears the associated mac filters. However, at least one
HSRP configuration has been found where unconfiguring does not clear the associated mac filters. In
this case a reload is needed to recover.

The configuration that causes the problem is when HSRP groups 0-24 are configured on two
seperate interfaces i.e. 50 total HSRP groups, but only 25 unique groups. In this case removing all
the HSRP configuration leaves the router in a state where adding a single new group causes the
console message:

Oct 16 13:08:51.191 EDT: %IOSXE_RP_SPA-3-MAC_FILTER_ADD_FAIL: All the available 32
mac filters for module have been consumed. Failed to add 0000.0c07.ac32 for interface
GigabitEthernet0/0/0

to be displayed.
