Cisco Bug: CSCur26215 - Kerberos Realm Name (option 6) uses wrong encoding

Last Modified

Jun 20, 2016

Products (1)

  • Cisco Network Registrar

Known Affected Releases

8.1(3.1) 8.2

Description (partial)

Symptom:
The Kerberos Realm Name option data (option 122.6 for DHCPv4 and CableLabs Vendor Option (17) (enterprise-id 4491) option 2171, suboption 6) is not accepted by packet cable devices.

This is because these are incorrectly defined as AT_NSTRING (non-null terminated string) instead of AT_DNSNAME.

Conditions:
Impacts PacketCable for CPNR versions 8.2.0.2 - 8.2.2.1 for DHCPv4 and 8.2 - 8.2.2.1 for DHCPv6. And, 8.1.3.1 and 8.1.3.2 for both DHCPv4 and DHCPv6.

Note: If PCP (BAC) supplies this option data, the correct data will be sent out but may not be shown correctly if detailed packet logging (packet dump) is enabled.
