Cisco Bug: CSCur23743 - P2MPTE: Traffic frwding is affected on creation of Rx Span session

Last Modified

Jan 29, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASR 920 Series Aggregation Services Router

Known Affected Releases

15.5(2)S

Description (partial)

Ingress SPAN on P2MPTE tunnel (on MVPN DECP or MLDP (bud node) cases) on BUD node scenario is not supported.

In this scenario, we already do Local replication and Core Replication.
Due to ASIC limitation, SPAN conflicts with the MPLS and this causes either Functionality or SPAN to work and not both at same time.

Symptom:
In ASR903 & ASR920, mVPN traffic stops forwarding to p2mp-TE tunnel and/or mLDP lspvif interfaces.

Conditions:
mVPN traffic stops forwarding When ASR903 and/or ASR920 acting as a BUD-PE is configured to monitor the packets on p2mp-TE tunnel and/or mLDP lspvif interfaces using following configuration

monitor session 1 type local
 source interface <physical interface>
 destination interface <physical interface>

This issue is seen only when PE needs to forward the packets to mpls core and also to multicast reciever reachable via access interfaces along with monitoring the packets. In ASR903/920 ASIC used to forward the packet is not capable to do all these 3 functionalities together and hence the issue.
