Last Modified

Feb 14, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco Email Security Appliance

Known Affected Releases

8.0.1-023 8.5.6-074

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When attempting to join a cluster using the 'clusterconfig' command, you may encounter the following error:

Failed to join the cluster.
Error was: '(\'egg/cli.py _cluster_make_auto_invdef|3950\', "<type \'exceptions.KeyError\'>", "\'ip\'", \'[egg/cli.py _clusterjoin_batch|5746] [egg/cli.py
_cluster_make_auto_invdef|3950]\')'

Conditions:
In order for this error to occur, the following conditions must be met on the ESA that is joining the cluster:

1) The ESA has an IP interface with only an IPv6 address configured (no IPv4 address)
2) That interface is alphabetically above the IP interface that the appliance is connecting from

Additionally, the cluster you are joining must be configured to communicate by IP address (See CLI: clusterconfig -> communication)
