Cisco Bug: CSCur05565 - Traffic loss for intermittent source as rcvr PE does not rejoin data MDT

Last Modified

Jul 05, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

6.2(10)S77

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When the MVPN feature is enabled and the traffic is flowing across between the two mvpn sites, it is possible that the traffic might blackhole when using data mdts.

Conditions:
1. Data MDT configured on the source PE router.

When the receiver PE is yet to create the S,G but receives the DATA MDT mapping advertisements, from the source PE
the black holing might happen. If the Data mdt advertisements come in AFTER the S,G route (customer route) is created, then, the receiver will switch to using the data mdt advertisements and there will be no traffic loss.

Typically this happens for the ASM groups in the customer VRF. If SSM is deployed, then we should not be hitting this problem as the SG route is first created on the receiver PE before it is sent all the way up to the source PE.
