Cisco Bug: CSCuq91142 - C220 raid backup/BBU options are confusing in install/service guide

Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco Unified Computing System

Known Affected Releases

1.5(4a)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
In the C220 installation and service guide, under maintaining the server>Replacing the LSI RAID Battery Backup Unit or SuperCap Power Module has a bold note indicating:
Note	If you are replacing a BBU on an older card, order the iBBU09 battery backup unit (UCS-RAID-BBU=). The newer SuperCap power module is not compatible with older, non-CacheVault cards.

But in the Raid Controller considerations section>Raid backup Units section, it indicates:
Note	The iBBU09 battery backup unit (BBU) has been phased out by Cisco and replaced with the SuperCap power module (SCPM). If you are replacing a BBU, order the SCPM for the replacement (UCS-RAID-CV-SC=). Cards that used the BBU are compatible with the SCPM.

These two items are contradictory and confusing for support.

Conditions:
C220 M3 server that has BBU module that needs replacing.
