Last Modified

Nov 18, 2016

Products (1)

  • Cisco 5500 Series Wireless Controllers

Known Affected Releases

7.6(130.0) 8.0(100.0)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Android clients fail to renew DHCP when roaming between APs. In some instances we see that the client will roam, fail to renew DHCP, disconnect from this AP, associate to an AP further away, complete DHCP from Discover through ACK, after 15 seconds they roam back to the closest AP, fail to renew DHCP and the process cycles.

Conditions:
Any Android client
Any WLC
Any AP
APs in Local mode or Flex mode with WLAN in Central Switching
DHCP Server in different subnet/VLAN from the client
DHCP Proxy disabled on the WLC/Interface
Setup relies on "ip helper-address" on the wired network to forward DHCP Discover and Request to the DHCP Server
