Cisco Bug: CSCuq68046 - PRSM uses wrong credentials when polling 'show failover state' from ASA

Last Modified

Nov 27, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASA Next-Generation Firewall Services

Known Affected Releases

9.2(1.2.82) 9.3(1.1.112)

Description (partial)

When an ASA failover pair is discovered into an off-box PRSM, the ASA may periodically log authentication failures from PRSM's IP address:

%ASA-6-113015: AAA user authentication Rejected : reason = Invalid password : local database : user = ***** : user IP = <PRSM_IP>
%ASA-6-605004: Login denied from <PRSM_IP>/<source_port> to inside:<ASA_IP>/https for user "*****"

This occurs when PRSM tries to poll the output of 'show failover state' from the ASA. This issue does not affect PRSM's operation as its 2nd attempt to poll the command will correctly use valid credentials and succeed.

This issue only affects an ASA failover pair discovered into PRSM (managed or monitor-only). Standalone ASAs are not affected.
