unable to run report against interfaces using data explorer query

If a report is run by choosing objects via the data explorer, it will initially not find any objects, despite the explorer having shown many 1000's of objects.  If the filter is cleared and rerun, all the objects will be found.  The problem is that the report is generated using a bad query.  The initial report had the following query in it's definition (via firebug):  query "Type(IN(1,2,3,4,5,6));Node(ash);"
After clearing the filter, the report was defined with a better query:  query "Node(ash);"
To Reproduce: go to the data explorer.  Choose all interfaces starting the the name: "ash".  Choose the select all button on the top left.  Click run report button.  Keep all of the defaults and choose any single attribute.  Run.  No output will occur.  To fix this, go to the data explorer.  Clear the filter, using the button on the top right.  Re-enter the same query and rerun the report.  All will now work.
This is a regression from 5.6.  Used Cox db and last night's official 6.0.1 build: 6.0.1.
It may be the case that Type(IN... is supposed to work.  If so, then the bug is two-fold: The Type query is no longer being generated after clearing the filter and our back end isn't processing it correctly.
