Symptom: An AP may find itself in a reboot loop. The console shows the following sequence: * the AP boots up * a few seconds after booting, messages similar to the following are displayed: May 6 09:44:54.015: Using SHA-1 signed certificate for image signing validation. May 6 09:44:54.016: Release image validation failure - restarting AP. * the AP crashes * the AP reboots, and the cycle repeats 09:44:57 UTC Fri May 6 2011: Unexpected exception to CPU: vector 2000, PC = 0x28D00C , LR = 0x28D00C -Traceback= 0x28D00Cz 0x28D00Cz 0x7C2280z 0x7FE904z 0x7FA140z 0x816FF8z 0x2758C0z Conditions: AP was running an 184.108.40.206 (15.3(3)JA) full lightweight (k9w8 image), as downloaded in CAPWAP from a WLC, OR a 15.3(3) autonomous IOS image (k9w7) image Then, another 15.3(3) AP IOS image, as downloaded from Cisco.com is installed on the AP using the "archive download-sw" or image recovery method. This install is corrupted, and, upon a subsequent reboot, the AP will go into the crash loop.
