  • Cisco Aironet 3700 Series

Known Affected Releases

7.4(121.0)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Effectively it looks like there is an issue with the AP processing the 802.1x Identity-Request from the WLC. This appears to be an issue at the AP side. as the client state transitions from 802.11 Auth/Associate to 802.1x_REQD.

Analysis of "mmc-1sw-ap04 -1.pcap" & "mmc-1sw-ap04" (log) files

Note, there appears to be ~2.5 sec difference in the pcap and log files.

Appears that the client and AP are correctly doing low level 802.11 ACK exchanges for transmissions. Also the client is not having any trouble with probe request/responses, nor is there any 802.11 beacon issue. Thus we can rule out any sort of low level data rate or modulation issue. Also this indicates that the radio is still up.. and also the actual WLAN in question is still running as well.

The client exchanges appear to be correct for 802.11 probe/response & 802.11 auth/assoc. What should be happening right after the 802.11 assoc exchange, is the AP sending out an 802.1x Identity-Request. This is exactly where things are stopping and breaking on the offending AP.
