Reports of multiple heartbeat misses between VRU PG and the CVP and paging increasing on CVP Server. Primarily when using UCS platform

During troubleshooting, we made sure TCP/IP Chimney and Offloading was disabled and also receive side scaling was taken care- did not help the issue

Verify speed and NIC Binding order on this PG and CVP

Collected Perfmon counters on both VRU PG and CVP and see DPC rate spikes. applied KB patch: 972071 - did not help the issue

Windows Firewall was turned OFF

NIC drivers on UCS Server were upgraded - did not help the issue

we Increased VRU PIM Heartbeat timeout from 2 to 4 On the CVP call server,
increase maximum allowed heartbeat to miss to 4. This would allow the missing heartbeat up
to 20 seconds (heartbeat interval is 5 seconds). Still we see the heartbeats miss.

Captured packet captures and see TCP RST sent from the CVP server to the PG
requesting to drop the connection. From network investigation there were no drops or issues, it appears that application wanted to close the connection.

After making additions to Java Garbage Collector the issue was fixed


to the registry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apache Software Foundation\Procrun2.0\CallServer\Parameters\Java -> "Options? tab
