Cisco Bug: CSCuq29218 - NullPointerException during configuration regeneration

Last Modified

Nov 06, 2015

Products (1)

  • Cisco Broadband Access Center for Telco and Wireless

Known Affected Releases

3.8(1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Device configuration regeneration failing to an unhandled NullPointerException (NPE).

Conditions:
•	Configuration Regeneration Service (CRS) on BAC RDU is responsible for generating the configuration parameters for a device
•	RDU will then push this configuration to DPE which in turn will cache these parameters
•	The configuration generation was failing on the RDU due to an unhandled exception in one of the proprietary API's (RegenerateConfiguration).
•	The RegenerateConfiguration API, which internally is used by the CRS, was trying to fetch a device that did not exist in the database. In such scenarios database returns a null object to the caller API. The RegenerateConfiguration API was trying to access a field of this null reference, which in turn was causing the NPE.
