Last Modified

Jan 28, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

5.2(1)N1(7.99)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
A Nexus 5000 switch may unexpectedly reload due to a crash in the 'port-profile' service.

After the initial reload, a switch hitting this issue was observed to enter a 'loop' where port-profile would crash immediately after boot. A write-erase from the kickstart prompt was necessary to recover the switch.

Conditions:
This was observed on a Nexus 5000 series switch running NX-OS 5.2(1)N1(8) after applying a configuration that included FabricPath. It is not known at this time if FabricPath is necessary to trigger the crash.

Port-profile configuration is not required to trigger this crash.
vPC configuration may contribute to this crash.

Further conditions or triggers may exist but are not known at this time.
