Cisco Bug: CSCuq20309 - FEC counter error messages may trigger module reload

Last Modified

Mar 16, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer Switches

Known Affected Releases

6.2(9)S32

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Symptom 1:
The output of command show logging onboard misc includes the following type of message:

  str_services_main:315:SSE cmd = 34 failed. rc = -22[ffffffeaH]->  EINVAL

Symptom 2:
A module may reload with the following type of syslog message:

  %MODULE-2-MOD_NOT_ALIVE: Module 1 not responding...resetting

The show system reset-reason module of the affected module may contain the following log:

      Service: Line card manager

Conditions:
Both issues only affect NX-OS releases 6.2(7), 6.2(9), 6.2(9a) and 6.2(11) and only apply to DS-X9112, DS-X9124 and DS-X9148 switching modules.

The EINVAL messages are more prevalent when port monitor policies are enabled. They are also triggered by external SNMP queries of module FEC counters.

The module reload issue rarely occurs.
