Symptom: In rare circumstances, error messages such as the following may appear in the MDS syslog: <CmdBold> 2014 Jul 16 14:12:21 %SYSMGR-SLOT2-3-HEARTBEAT_FAILURE: Service "plog" sent SIGABRT for not setting heartbeat for last 4 periods. Last heartbeat 96.49 secs ago. 2014 Jul 16 14:12:31 %SYSMGR-SLOT2-3-BASIC_TRACE: core_copy: PID 1331 with message Core not generated by system for plog(0). WCOREDUMP(9) returned zero . 2014 Jul 16 14:12:31 %SYSMGR-SLOT2-2-SERVICE_CRASHED: Service "plog" (PID 17700) hasn't caught signal 9 (no core). 2014 Jul 16 14:12:31 %CALLHOME-2-EVENT: SW_CRASH plog in slot 2 crashed with crash type : stateful crash <NoCmdBold> Certain commands on module in slot 2 (in the example above) may not produce any output and hang the CLI session, such as <CmdBold>show logging onboard Conditions: This issue has been observed very rarely, only on gen-4 linecards DS-X9232-256K9 and DS-X9248-256K9, after software upgrade to NX-OS 6.2(x) version.
