Cisco Bug: CSCuq04062 - 1Gig port- 64 byte Padding some ports pass 60 byte

- Cisco Catalyst 6000 Series Switches
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: Padding may be disabled on some of the ports in the switch. Problem is seen when a small packet ( CRC + data + additional tag, e.g vlan, mpls etc) comes inside a switch and have to go out through another port after additional tag is removed. Packet should go out of the switch with a minimum size of 64 bytes, if the packet size is less than 64 bytes after removal of additional tags then switch should pad the packet. Because of this bug padding may be disabled and packet may get drop on the next hop as runts, input error. Conditions: This happens in a very specific condition: 1. port is already in admin no shut state. 2. If at this point transceiver is inserted then padding does not get enable for this port. You will not hit the condition if transceiver is inserted and then no shut is done on the port. Once you are in broken state reloading the box or shutting down the link from the remote end will not fix the problem.
