Cisco Bug: CSCuq01789 - ASA: incorrect MTU reported by ASA: L3 vs expected L2 in IPv6 RA message

Last Modified

Nov 27, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software

Known Affected Releases

9.1(5.1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
ASA reporting incorrect MTU in IPv6 RA messages.

Conditions:
Problem can be seen best when reaching MTU size limit after change CSCum63417 added in 9.1(5.1) - in earlier releases it was possible to configure MTU of 9216 (which is not supported but wouldn't cause problems since attached devices would not send too big frames and ASA usually doesn't need to generate such huge frames) and it masked the issue.
