Cisco Bug: CSCup95584 - change in behavior when processing max metric in an LSA "Reoptimizatio

- Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: When metric is change to MAX_METRIC-1. LSA "Reoptimization occurs very frequently. Current XR head-end behavior attempts to find a better path for all tunnels whenever it receives an LSA which contains a MAX_METRIC-1 value. We do not try to find out if the LSA was triggered by a metric change to MAX_METRIC-1 or came for some other reason. Below is an example of what is causing this behavior. Conditions: 1) Junos router changes the metric on a link to MAX_METRIC-1. An LSA is flooded. 2) Asr9k receives the LSA. It sees a max metric value in the LSA and attempts to reoptimize all tunnels. 3) Some local topology change occurs at the same Junos router (link up/down, metric change, affinity change, etc). An LSA is flooded. 4) Asr9k receives the LSA. It notices the Junos router has a link with its metric set to MAX_METRIC-1. It will attempt again to reoptimize all tunnels.
