Cisco Bug: CSCup72740 - ACL Remarks Reordered If Object Modified

Last Modified

Apr 13, 2020

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls

Known Affected Releases

9.0(4) 9.1(5) 9.2(1)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Modifying an Object that is used within an ACL may cause the ACL's remarks to be re-ordered. It does not impact functionality of the ACL. The line referencing the object is moved down until there is only one remark line between it and the next non-remark line.

For example:
1: access-list BUG remark ** Remark above permit line **
2: access-list BUG extended permit ip any object TEST
3: access-list BUG remark ** Remark directly beneath permit line **
4: access-list BUG remark ** Remark 1 line below permit line **
5: access-list BUG remark ** Remark 2 lines below permit line **
6: access-list BUG extended permit ip any any

Upon modification of object TEST, line 2 will move to line 4 such that there is only one remark line between it and the next non-remark line (line 6).

Conditions:
This has been seen on multiple ASA code trains.
